Hide system shutdown button from start menu

If you want to restrict any user to access shutdown button in the start menu of your computer then this trick will help you in doing so.


To hide the shutdown option follow the simple steps:

  • Login to your computer with full administrative rights
  • Click on start button and select Run
  • Type regedit in the text box and press enter
  • In the registry editor locate the following path 
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer 
  • Now at the right side of the window, right click and create a new DWORD value and name it NoClose
  • In the value box of the NoClose assign a value 1
  • Now close the registry editor and restart your computer
  • If you again want to unhide the shutdown option just change the value of NoClose to 0 or just delete the new DWORD
