Virtual memory is a computer system technique which gives an application program the impression that it has contiguous working memory (an address space), while in fact it may be physically fragmented and may even overflow on to disk storage. Systems that use this technique make programming of large applications easier and use real physical memory (e.g. RAM) more efficiently than those without virtual memory.
To increase your Virtual Memory follow the simple steps:
- Open the System Properties, by hold down the Windows Key and pressing the Pause/Break key, or by right clicking My Computer and then select Properties.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Under Performance, click Settings.
- Then click the Advanced tab on the Performance Option window.

- Under Virtual Memory at the bottom, click Change.
- Then click the Custom Size button.
- In the Initial size (depending on your HD space available), set the size between 1000-1500 and in the Maximum size set the size between 2000-2500.
- Click Set, and then exit out of all of the windows.

- Finally, Restart your computer. You now have a faster computer and 1 to 2 GB of Virtual Memory.
